Why does the revision letter on an HPE Aruba optic matter?
Different revisions of a similarly named optic may have different platform or software support. Provide the complete part number, such as the letter suffix, and check it against the exact switch and software documentation.
Can the same optic be assumed to work across ArubaOS-Switch and AOS-CX platforms?
No. Confirm the exact switch product number, software family and release, port and supported transceiver revision. A part listed for one platform is not automatically supported on another.
What should be checked for 10GBASE-T SFP+ modules?
Confirm platform support, cable category and length, available airflow and the module revision. Copper SFP+ modules can have different power and thermal behavior from optical SFP+ modules.
What details are needed for 25G or 100G links?
Provide the switch, software, port mode, required standard, FEC, reach, fiber and connector. For SR4, include the MPO plant; for duplex-LC optics, identify both-end modules.
How should a replacement be validated before a larger order?
Test the exact coded sample in the target switch and software. Confirm recognition, alarms, DOM/DDM, link stability, FEC and error counters under the intended port configuration.
