Arista Compatible Optical Transceivers
Arista-compatible SFP, SFP+, SFP28, QSFP+ and QSFP28 optics reviewed by switch model, EOS version, port mode and link requirements.
Use this directory to prepare an Arista optics request for access, leaf-spine and data-center links. Selection is based on the exact switch, EOS environment, port mode and optical path rather than the cage type alone.
What to send for a useful compatibility check
Send the exact Arista switch SKU, EOS version, port number and configured speed. For breakout links, include the lane map and both-end devices.
Host environment
Exact switch SKU, EOS version, port and configured speed
Port topology
Native link or breakout, lane map, both-end devices and FEC
Optical path
Reach, fiber grade, connector, patch panels and loss
Commercial scope
OEM reference or BOM, coding/DDM expectations, quantity and schedule
Common Arista OEM references
This table is a request-planning reference, not a universal compatibility list. Exact reach can depend on fiber grade and optical budget. Confirm the current official hardware documentation for the target platform and software.

Frequently asked questions
Is an Arista transceiver choice valid for every switch with the same cage?
No. Check the exact switch SKU, EOS release, port speed and hardware compatibility information. A QSFP or SFP cage may support only specific speeds, breakout modes or transceiver families.
What is needed for a 25G or 100G compatibility review?
Provide the switch, EOS version, port configuration, required optic standard, reach, fiber, connector and FEC setting. The same module can behave differently when the port mode or FEC expectation differs.
Can a QSFP port be assumed to support breakout?
No. Breakout support depends on the switch, port group, EOS configuration and lane mapping. Send the exact port and both-end topology before choosing the module and cable assembly.
What should be checked if EOS reports an unsupported transceiver?
Capture the exact warning, module inventory output, EOS version, port configuration and EEPROM identity. Also verify link parameters and DOM values; do not treat a warning alone as proof that the optical hardware is defective.
How should a coded sample be validated?
Install it in the target switch and EOS release, confirm recognition and DOM/DDM, bring up the intended native or breakout mode, check FEC and counters, and observe stability under the expected load.
